ANNUAL MEETING
Nine members had been nominated for committee (Margaret Boswell, Sally Leslie, Joyce North, Jill Pearce, Elaine Pendered, Ann Pettifer, Do Ranson, Jenny Samways and Penny Seaward). As there are more places on the committee then nominees, there was no need for an election.
Nominations were sought for next years President. Six committee members were nominated. Only Margaret Boswell agreed to stand, so she was appointed without an election. She thanked Lesley for being our teller.
The Treasurer read out the annual report. She proposed that this was adopted, seconded by Joyce North. No questions were raised. The report was adopted with a show of hands.
The Secretary readout the committee’s annual report. In it she pointed out that membership numbers overall were dropping. We have had 19 new members since April 2016, but 48 members had left, this includes 7 of the joiners. About 1/3 of members rarely come to the monthly meetings and around 15 never come at all. This situation may well have repercussions for WRWI in the next few years. The President proposed the adoption of the report, which was carried with a show of hands.
Annual reports were then given by the following groups:
Hall Management; Hall Lets; Catering; Chesil Bank Group; Art; Book Club; Campaign Group (who are disbanding); Poetry; Craft; Gardening; Folk Dancers; Keep Fit; Bric-a-Brac; Rambling; Scrabble; Singers; Table Tennis; Ukulele; Whist; Walking Netball; Quiz; and Holidays and Outings.
Margaret then gave the President’s report and looked forward to a successful and happy time in the coming year.
The meeting finished at 9.10 pm.

National Federation (NFWI):
- nothing received from National.

- Valerie has asked that the piano not be moved, except by the Singers. This is to stop it going out of tune so often and also to make it less likely to come off its runners. She asked that the hirers of the hall be made aware of this restriction. There is a notice on the piano saying ‘Do Not Move’.
- Nothing local. With any luck their new premises at Poundbury will be up and running soon.
- Margaret said that she thought it was a good issue for craft people. She pointed out the Quilt Show information and a Fashion Museum as well.
